RE: Haunting melody

My post was referring to the death throes (finally) of this forum. I stayed loyal for many years but dang it's been hard. Hopefully the new version will be great. As to the song itself I've listened to it on many an Army post as Dad got sent here and there from WWII until he passed in 1983. It still gives me shivers.

RE: Suspension on 2004 Coachman Dream Catcher

We had a Jayco 5er with factory shocks. The mounting brackets were perfectly welded to the frame. They really made a difference in the ride teamed with a air ride pin box.

RE: Toy Hauler

There are some pretty fancy horse trailers out there with front living. Some would be long enough for those 2 units.

RE: New to Solar. Conect directly to battery ????

Another factor is where you like to camp. State parks and Federal campsites love trees. Solar hates trees and shade. If you like open fields go for it.

RE: Not to do retirement bucket list

I thought by now I would be saying I'm done with a lot of things but looks like about the only thing I'm done with is, thinking I'll retire. Quit buy new stuff every year and you could retire ;)

RE: Amarillo, TX RV Park

The Oasis RV park is also very nice. Don't forget the free limo rides to the Big Texan Steak House from all the RV parks and hotels. They pick you up and take you back. Older Limos but big horns on all of the hoods. There is also a nice RV museum in the area. https://www.rvmuseum.net/

RE: an article about RV'ing

What do you think about my new green RV? The engine is small (only 4 horsepower), but it gets me to where I'm going... https://i.imgur.com/IEQDUyBl.jpg I'll be installing solar next week. I am having one problem though....My black waste tank sensors aren't working properly. Does anyone know where I can find some ice to put in the tank so that I can drive around and clean those sensors?? :) What is ice? And how do I keep the black tank valves from leaking?

RE: Onan Generator Oil Filter Crossthreaded

Can you share with us how this happened? Are you saying Superman forced the new filter at the last change all the way up to the sealing surface? If there is a heavy truck shop near you I would consult with them for ideas. I don't know how access on your rig is configured but they could possibly chase the threads. Maybe you can find a junk genny cheap for parts, use that bottom plate, and solve it that way.

RE: Two different size quick connects on my trailer?

While you are solving this issue open all faucets, shower hose, low point drains, fresh water drain, and DON'T fORGET to drain the hot water heater. That'll buy you time to avoid a big problems. If you have a washing machine make sure you drain that as well.

RE: Looking at used 2023 Chevy HD 2500, Duramax

Have the dealer show you the CarFax and go from there. Will all things show on a CarFax? Nope, but it's better than believing a dealership that could have bought it at an auction and it has a branded title. The Carfax will show you that type of thing.

RE: Can I Dump Through Sewer Vent?

Fuel oil smells different than septic. Tell the neighbor you don't much care for to see what he thinks since your smeller doesn't work after Covid.

RE: Uncle Tony on Rivian Trucks and Parking Garage Fire

There are numerous news videos of Tesla fires. The batteries may not have been the cause in all cases but the batteries definitely burned. I have a Fire Chief friend and they hate using 6000 gallons of water to put them out.

RE: The Price Is Right

The rig is impressive. I'd never get it in 98% of the campgrounds we like to stay at. There is room on the truck frame for a side mounted car, that is probably the next step. I thought that was a lot of space on the truck frame. How will it get up and down? I notice your travel map in your signature. I used to have one but then it stopped working. Are they working again? It looks like you haven't been to Alabama or Louisiana. I'm in Alabama today and in about 5 days I will be in Louisiana. On that trip we went out I40 from the Raleigh area of NC, down thru AZ,and back on I10/I65/I85 and home. 6034 miles and 26 days. We never slowed down going thru Louisiana and just clipped the corner of Alabama. I wanted to go to Gulfport state park but the inn was full. In my mind just driving thru a state doesn't count as camping there.

RE: 30ft Travel Trailer how common in the US

Fairly might be an understatement. At least in our local area it looks like 5er prices are driving buyers to behemoth travel trailers. Most being pulled by 1500 short bed lifted trucks.

RE: Bearing puller for utility trailer

You're smart to have checked your "free" trailer. Good job.

RE: Gulf coast things to do!

The alligator alley we've traveled is in FL. Way down in FL. Is there another one?
